Sublime’s 40oz to Freedom – VMP-RR002

It’s always exciting to find a Vinyl Me Please package waiting on my doorstep after a long day at work, and this time, it was the one I had been eagerly anticipating. This album holds a special place in my heart, having solidified my lifelong love for ska music and setting the tone for my senior year of high school. While the music itself is exceptional, let’s delve into the quality of the VMP Rock release on vinyl.

The artwork and jacket of the album are truly remarkableβ€”vibrant and impeccably crafted. The embossed front image adds a tactile dimension, creating a delightful texture as your hand glides over it. The lyric-sleeves accompanying the records feature hand-written lyrics from some of the album’s tracks; they’re skillfully made, although the paper used might feel a bit rough to some.

My copy of the vinyl was in pristine condition, a standard I’ve come to expect from VMP. Spread across two LPs, they’ve chosen the ‘Rivers of Babylon’ color, a thoughtful touch that not only adds visual appeal but also contributes to superior sound quality. Opting for two LPs instead of cramming everything onto one minimizes inner groove distortion across all sides.

The sound quality itself is great, staying true to the original 1992 CD that I still possess.
Playing these albums on my turntable flooded me with memories from 1992, and I recommend this VMP edition.
